Friday, March 21st, 2003
For immediate release
Kingston - Dr. David Suzuki, world-renowned geneticist, activist,
and journalist signed on to Pesticide Reduction Kingston's petition
urging Kingston City Council to pass a by-law regulating cosmetic
pesticide use. This was followed by a rousing talk given at Queen's
University's Grant Hall last night.
Dr. Suzuki noted that "eliminating pesticides around residential
neighbourhoods is one of the ten challenges that we are asking
Canadians to undertake in our Nature Challenge." The David
Suzuki Foundation issued the Nature Challenge in early 2003, more
information can be found at their web-site www.davidsuzuki.org.
PRK organizers were very pleased with Dr. Suzuki's willingness
to endorse their campaign. Dr. Suzuki joins the family of Rob
Baker, of the Tragically Hip, and over 1000 residents who have
already signed PRK's petition.
