Welcome
to Pesticide Reduction News!
Nov. 26, 2002
Kingston, Ont. -- If you haven't visited PRK's website in the
last little while, you'll notice some changes to our format. PRK's
website is not just an educational resource for Kingstonians but
is now providing a new service, Pesticide Reduction News.
Pesticide
Reduction News will provide provocative and interesting content
regarding the health risks associated with synthetic pesticide
use, as well as the latest by-law developments througout the province
and the country. In our first edition, we present a couple of
articles regarding our most famous petition signatory, Rob Baker;
a recent poll in Toronto showing strong support for a restrictive
by-law; and a great piece on some local grade 3 students, whose
art work you will see throughout this site.
In
fact, the logo on our home page is the work of grade 3 student
Jacob Riha, whose submission was selected by a panel of judges
as the winning logo. As you navigate our site please take the
time to look at what some of our children have to say about pesticides
and the environment. We thought that it was only fitting that
the most vulnerable group, our children, use their creativity
to express their concerns regarding pesticide use in the city
of Kingston. The submissions at the top of the page will be used
permanently on our site, but please be sure to peruse our Pesticide
Reduction Kids' Gallery to view all of the submissions.
We
at PRK hope that you are able to put the information on this site
to good use in your neighbourhood and reduce pesticide use in
your local environment. If you would like to be a part of our
efforts, or to contribute some content to PRK News, feel free
to contact us for more information.
Best
regards,
Pesticide
Reduction Kingston Organizing Committee.
